How it is calculated in Australia

Australia calculates duty on the FOB customs value.

GST at 10% applies to the value of the taxable importation: customs value, duty, and the international freight and insurance.

With a valid ChAFTA certificate of origin, many Chinese products enter duty free. Set the duty to 0 to compare.

ItemCalculation
Import dutyCustoms value (fob) × duty rate
GST (on value + duty + freight)(customs value (FOB) + import duty + freight and insurance) × 10%
